Yep, me too.
Same here.
Don’t even get me started.
I have certainly struggled and stumbled on this journey of caregiving and parenthood and life. I’ve also found WAYS TO UPLIFT myself, and by extension my family and community. There’s been a lot of trial and error, study, and reflection. I’m not saying I have everything figured out…but what I have found to be HELPFUL for myself, I’m eager to SHARE with you.
This series is for individuals for whom self-care feels like a distant, fuzzy goal. Doing things solely for yourself may feel inaccessible with too many demands on your already limited time. Maybe your self-care needs an upgrade or some fresh ideas. Perhaps you used to go to the gym or yoga studio regularly but lately it’s not been happening. Let’s change things up with new moves, ideas, and insights from someone who has been in your position. You may be a mom, dad, sister, brother, guardian, or a service provider.
You will come away with at-the-ready practices and tangible reminders to prioritize your own needs.
I’m fascinated by esoteric practices, those not usually included in a typical yoga class. I have practiced them myself to revel in great benefits such as increased mobility, greater core strength, and more access to mindful presence. These are the moves I rely on when life gets nutty…and keep some sanity!
In Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga, we find super small, incremental changes that are feasible and easy to implement. Instead of temporary fixes that fizzle out, we are led straight to achievable changes with sustainable improvements that continue to persist over time. Lean on these ancient traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda to equip your modern life for connection to yourself.
In each class we will learn a brief (10-15 minute) movement practice. I guide you through ways to move which address our whole selves: mind, body and spirit all being attended to. I provide a range of options, starting with beginner options and offering further adaptations to tailor each pose to where you are.
These tangible items serve as your reminder that you are equipped to bust out your very own short movement practice when you are able, to take your body through some movement to feel powerful. These gifts are small (no need to rearrange your home), common items (not a big deal if lost or stolen by a kid), and specially selected for you (because you deserve it).
Through the physical practices and tangible items we address topics of daily rhythms, routines vs rituals, elements of nature, and wellness habits. Lots of options, adaptations and variations offered throughout each session.
